Modern Platform Beds – A platform bed is an elevated surface that lifts the mattress off the floor without a spring bed frame or in the traditional box. A platform bed can be made mobile with the addition of wheels. Select high strength wheels that can be locked so the bed is stable when in use. The addition of pulls helps make this platform bed mobile. Choose mangoes that are thick, soft and round to avoid injuries caused by sharp edges. Measure the length and width of the mattress to be used on the platform. Add any extra wide length or if the platform is also to be used as a side table or seating area.
Cut 2-by-4 at the appropriate lengths determined by the size you want the finished bed to be. Place the left side piece of the top piece using wood glue and then screw the pieces together. For stability, use at least two screws. Repeat this process for the right side and the bottom piece and then connect the two together to create frame modern platform beds. Install cross supports every 8 to 10 inches per cut 2s-per-additional that fit perfectly in the frame from side to side. Use wood glue and screw through the frame and into the brackets to secure the transverse brackets.
